Lachlan MacInnes is a big, shaggy guy usually wearing a headband, muscle shirt, cargo pants, and jungle boots. This holds true whether he’s on duty with the militia or not. He carries a high-powered, accurized rifle both on hunting trips and militia duty; as is usually the case he’s a big-game hunter and militia sharpshooter. For backup, he carries a magnum pistol, Bowie knife, and machete. The frag grenades are mostly for use as boobytraps – he carries the wire for tripwires.
When Lachlan isn’t on militia duty he has his own little brewery and bar, complete with a monkey pit. His booze is good enough to sell locally, but nothing special. It definitely serves its two primary purposes though, water purification and intoxicant. Between alcohol sales (both on and off sale at his bar), bar food, and the meat he takes home from the jungle, he does well enough. He supplements that income with bets on monkey fights in his bar.
He is also a monkey tamer. His trips into the jungle are largely multipurpose – he’s looking for meat, ingredients for his latest brewing experiment, and monkeys worthy of his stable. In addition to their obvious duties in the pit, he uses them to protect his bar when he isn’t home, and a couple of them assist with some of the simpler tasks around both the bar and his home. It turns out you can indeed teach a monkey to grill a burger, and Connor has quite a knack for making them the perfect level of juiciness. Lachlan figures he’ll teach him to make beer brats next.
