It looks like I’ll be out on disability for the next six weeks. Turning in all the short-term disability and FMLA paperwork tomorrow. When I went to the doctor a week and a half ago to get my foot looked at, he said two months and we’ll go from there, so yeah.
Going in tomorrow for the wound doc and to get some more information on my diabetes meds. When I was discharged, the wound was 5cm x 1.5cm. A week ago the nurse measured it and it was down to 4.5cm x 1.4cm. It also looks shallower and the tendon isn’t quite as visible on the side of my foot, so I’m definitely growing back some meat. Let’s hope it’s something like 4cm x 1.3cm tomorrow.
Finally got two of my final hostibule bills. One was originally just shy of $1,600, and the other just shy of $1,700. Insurance knocked them down to ~$250 each. Combined with the $220 urgent care bill getting knocked down to $42, those three bills dropped from around $3,500 to $500. Can’t complain too hard about that. As far as I know I’m just waiting on one or two big ones from the hospital stay itself. And then the bills for the wound-vac rental, in-house nursing for the wound-vac, and the follow-up appointments; there have been two of those so far, with two more next week, and probably at least a few more over the next six weeks.
On the upside, I’ve completely covered my deductible for the year and am rapidly approaching my out of pocket max. So there’s that. Hopefully I’m reading things right and will only end up actually paying a few thousand for this whole ordeal.
