Create28 2023: Week V, 26-28 February

Another short week, so some more small loose assets.

26 February: Small Obelisk

By now you have a pretty good idea of my fascination with decorative stonework and obelisks.  So I made another obelisk to throw into a game or picture.  This one is a meter and a half tall and a meter square; like I said, “small.”

27 February: Security Camera

Stacie and I went out to dinner last night, and while I was waiting outside for her to unlock the car I found myself noticing the half dozen or so spread across the front of the building.  Then I realized this would be a quick, easy model I could throw in.  So here you have it, the ubiquitous security camera bubble fixture you see everywhere

28 February: Alien Missiles

A group of alien missiles for use by and against the player.  From left to right, they are:

  • Relatively high-speed vehicle-launched interceptor for use mostly in space.  They’re launched in swarms to overwhelm enemy point-defense and potentially maximize damage to an enemy vehicle.
  • Lower-speed vehicle-launched heavy missile, their much smaller rough equivalent of a Maverick.
  • High-speed infantry-launched light antiarmor missile.  It uses a hardened tip to punch through (or at least stick in) enemy armor before exploding.
  • Light RPG intended for use in multi-tube box launchers on battlesuits or supplemental weaponry for light vehicles.
  • Slightly larger light RPG for use in magazine-fed infantry launchers.  Humans would consider the launcher a light battlesuit weapon, the aliens can shoulder-fire one.

The two larger ones may never be encountered by the player in the FPS, and if they do they’ll likely be on the receiving end, not using them.  As for the smaller ones, I intend for at least the larger RPG to be player-usable with HEDP warheads; they’re the rough equivalent of Doom’s rocket launcher.

As with the rest of my alien construction, these are deliberately sharp-angled and hexagon-based.  You know I know how to make smoother surfaces, so you also know this angular look was a deliberate aesthetic decision.

So was that hideous orange and green color scheme that may be making your eyes bleed right now.  You’re welcome.
