A local politician’s ads keep describing him as “a successful entrepreneur.” That’s nice. It’s also so vague as to be almost completely meaningless.
An entrepreneur is just someone who runs a business. “Business” can mean anything from a lemonade stand to GE.
“Successful” is vague enough to mean almost anything. Even if we limit it for the purposes of this discussion to “turned a profit,” that still doesn’t narrow it down.
For certain values of “successful” and “entrepreneur,” which we’re free to use since the commercials never actually define exactly what they mean by “successful” and I don’t believe really say what his business is, the bar is pretty gorram low.
It could, with how little information we’re given, mean “dude sold enough lemonade at a little stand on the end of his driveway to cover the cost of the water and jug of Country Time powder and buy a couple of candy bars.” It could also mean “dude built OCP.”
But since they don’t mention his business in any meaningful way I’m going to go out on a limb and assume it’s closer to lemonade stand.
